The Chyron CODI (sometimes referred to as the “Blackbox Codi”) was an analog character generator released around 1991 or 1992 by Chyron Corporation. The CODI was designed to be remotely controlled by a computer.
It saw a ton of use, particularly with TV stations when paired with the Sage Alerting Systems ENDEC or TFT EAS 911 Emergency Alert System encoder.
It was eventually replaced with the DigiBox CODI.
Various first-party and third-party applications to control the Chyron CODI were introduced.
