Texscan Corp. was founded in 1965 and was a manufacturer of test equipment and other cable TV equipment. In 1980, Texscan Corp. acquired Marketing Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of character generators. A new branch of the Texscan company was formed, called Texscan MSI. In 1983, Texscan MSI acquired Computer Video Systems, Inc., another manufacturer of character generators under the COMPUVID name.
